Our Holiday Weekend

We started our Thanksgiving off with some holiday headbanging with the Trans Siberian Orchestra...It was an awesome show...nothing boring about it, very talented musicians. Did I mention lasers, fire, a floating stage, or fog? Well yes...all were included. It made me wish I would have finished learning how to play the piano. The electric violin was amazing, along with the electric guitar.

Then of course the yummy Thanksgiving dinner...and the kids decorated gingerbread houses after.
The last of our holiday fun was with our good friends the Sevys when we went down to Spring City canyon to find the perfect Christmas tree.
Two handsome lumberjacks.
The boys getting alittle shut eye...its tough work looking for a Christmas tree.

Easton with his bud Jamis. I think these two boys had more fun playing in the Sevy's rhino then actually out in the snow. The final tree that we brought home...thanks for a fun weekend guys!

Things to be Thankful for...

I know how sometimes it is hard to feel thankful for the things you have...but THIS reminded me that on this holiday that I need to be grateful for all of my blessing and trials, even in a depressing economy. Hope you enjoy this little clip as much as I did:)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Halloween update

It just happen to be our luck that on one of my favorite holidays...we get sick! Ugh.
The whole bunch had H1N1 so we were stuck home for our Halloween...but it wasn't so bad.
The Worst Part about it was...
  • It was the sick taking care of the sick...when your sick life still goes on and you need to take care of everyone else also.
  • Having to tell the little guy he couldn't go to his preschool party or any parties for that matter.
  • Not being prepared to stay home suddenly...(note to self, get a better food storage.)
  • Not caring that there were popsicle sticks all over the house...the only thing the boys would eat and I was too sick to pick them up...along with tissues and cough drop wrappers.
  • The Fever, cough, headache, and everything else that we had.

The Best Part about it was...

  • We caught up on lots of movies, mostly kid movies.
  • Having awesome family and friends to drop by and bring meals, juice, movies, and treats and etc. THANK YOU!!!
  • Carving pumpkins with all of us and having all the time in the world to do it cause we had no plans.
  • Staying home for a change and cuddling with my favorite little buddies.
  • That someone invented medicine. So thankful for Tylenol!
  • That the boys trick or treated to all the doors in our house...this was funny because they were pleased as punch even though it was their Dad at every door.

We still had a great Halloween with some fun memories. Sorry no costume pictures I am saving what we were all going to be for next year. Here are some pictures of our pumpkins we carved, they turned out pretty good for both of us being on cough syrup and Tylenol.

Easton's B-day at the ZOO!

Easton's birthday started with breakfast in bed.(which Owen enjoyed as well.) Then off to the ZOO! Easton was a little nervous about the crocodile...he really didn't want to get eaten, maybe too much peter pan I guess?

We started with the monkeys...and this cute little baby one. The boys just sat and stared, I don't think they thought they were real.

Then this cute little or not so little baby elephant.

This was an interesting monkey, it looked like a really soft blanket.

Doesn't Owen look good in blue? He might just have all blue shirts one day.

This is the part at the Zoo where I really hung my head. Some of you may know that I have really long arms, it was a joke on cheer that I had monkey arms... because they were so much longer than the rest of the team. Anyways at the zoo you can "MEASURE UP"... to see if your arms are as long as a Gorilla....well guess what.....
.
...Yes, these are my real arms next to the female gorilla. and YES I DO HAVE MONKEY ARMS!!! I'm only short about 2-3 inches. So all the jokes really hit home:( and from this point on at the zoo I hung my head and dragged my arms on the ground as we left.... until we saw the orangutans and then I was glad that I had Gorilla arms and not an orangutan flabby face, poor thing.

The boys looking at the zebras.

The Giraffes...we were so close Easton was feeding them leaves that was fun.

After the Zoo we went and enjoyed dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Which was so GOOD, if any of you have not been there you should go it was amazing.
P.S. Easton was so excited when we seen the crocodiles because they were sleeping...he made us all tip toe around him so we didn't wake them up. funny boy.

4...really?!

This is Easton when he was not even One! I miss, miss, miss him as a toddler. Owen reminds me of Easton at this age.

I can't believe he is now 4!! He is still so funny and has such an imagination...here are a few of his recent cute comments....

Me: Easton where do you want to have your birthday party?
E: um..how 'bout at the temple.

Me: Easton would you like to go to the zoo for your birthday?
E: No, I dont want the crocodile to eat me!!

Me: Easton what do you want for your birthday?
E: lots of big guns, and maybe a little knife.
(aren't we teaching are children such great things:)

His Uncle(on the phone): what do you want me to get you for your birthday?
E: just nothing, my mom and dad already got me some presents.

Me: It is time to get ready to go to bed Easton.
E: but, then my birthday is over...uuuuggggghhhhh!!!

Easton with his cake, he requested another spider cake.

Owen having to get in on the action, Easton made sure he didn't blow the candles out though.

What a face! Easton with all of his birthday toys! Thanks everyone for coming!!

This was the day before his birthday, the day at the ZOO is coming that will be another post!

Hunters & Gatherers

Last weekend we went down to my Grandpa's pumpkin patch and rode on a hayride with the kiddos out to gather pumpkins, potatoes, squash, and watermelons. He has quite the pumpkin patch. This is us loading up the four wheeler after the hay trailer left, we just had to have enough pumpkins to choose from.

Then this weekend we went back down to my Grandparents because the week before all the boys noticed some large bucks in the corn fields...so this was were they went hunting. But sad to say the deer were in another field:( Then after that we went out west to gather some pine nuts, YUM! If you have never gathered pine nuts before, you should just so you will appreciate them.
There they are...the largest pine nuts ever... but to get them you have to search for them on the ground with your bare hands, while being stabbed by pine needles, and branches in your face and pine cones digging into your fanny, and sap sticking to everything...but then you open one of these and suddenly it doesn't seem so bad.(then you start eating and not picking, which is bad)

Owen was of course no help...he was busy building a fire it looks like...and when he did find a pine nut he would bring it to us and sit on our lap and wait for us to feed it to him. We just love him!

Easton in his hunter orange. We came home with about a walmart bag full of pine nuts...pretty good because we probably ate about that much too.
